The Sony PSP looks promising so far, it just came out in Japan on the 12th. It can play MP3s and MPEG4 video files (conversion program available for other files to mpeg) on sony memory sticks (yes its a crappy proprietary sony one though). It has full WIFI wireless capabilities and looks like it can get online as well

Yeah, I saw a preview in a PS2 magazine a while back. I'm thinking of getting a handheld system and this might actually be worth it.

I tried the the Nintendo DS with Metroid it wasn't that entertaining. The graphics look ok but PSP looks amazing.

ohh man, i tried the DS with the thumb thing and i loved it. i don't know what your talking about but this does look really nice too.

You can use the second screen to aim in Metroid? That would work better but I use a keyboard and mouse as the benchmark for any first person shooter, anything else is weak.

Update
A friend of mine said in the new EGM it states the PSP will be released in America at a price under $200 ;D
