Please do mock and chastise me if this is in the wrong place. Having just converted some friends to Pig I thought back to how difficult and expensive it was to get hold of the rarer stuff. So to that end I wondered if anyone here has the knowledge to put rough prices on some Pig rarities? I don't really have a clue, I just wait until I find somebody who doesn't know what they're selling. (I am evil). i.e. CD/record/tape - approx value - max value. I personally know I've been over charged on some stuff but then I have snagged a few bargains too. I thought it might be nice for newer collectors to have some idea of what's fair and hopefully not to get fleeced. So if you want to make an educated guess on the price of a Pig rarity that would be mighty kind! Plus some humble pie stories about being hideously over charged are always good reading!

On the main website when you go to the KMFDM, PIG & Projects you'll see on the right hand side a column for "Rarity" I based that rarity rating on...
-how many of an item was produced -how long it has been out -how desirable it is to the average collector -on an estimation of how many of the item is in circulation (for sale on market)
This calculation has been on going for almost 5 years now
We had a thread going on somewhere about this type of topic I'll find it sometime and post a link in this thread. Ask away about what items you'd like opinions of.

Thanx, I'm well aware of that section of the site, it's a very useful guide. I just wondered if someone could put the price thing to rest. I'm fed up of seeing people selling The Swining (Japanese) for upwards of £50 to newbies when I could have found them a copy for a tenner.

Recently the Japan resellers of used PIG cds have sold them at historically low prices on Ebay.

Recently the Japan resellers of used PIG cds have sold them at historically low prices on Ebay. I still use www.tokyomusicjapan.com for my rareties & Ben who runs it always looks out for things if you let him know what you're after. As for the item's actual worth, I suppose it depends on the individual buyer. On a day where I have a few extra pounds, I will pay the extra to get the CD/vinyl etc. If I'm skint, I'll e-mail the buyer, haggle & try & buy a little more time until the next payday. Sorry, if that doesn't actually help you.

Currently it is fairly hard to find most PIG cds that were not released in the US. This will continue to happen and eventually most will be sitting in the hands of collectors I believe. Re-Releases and Re-Re-Releases aren't predicted to come out any year soon either.
