After much research and thought about DC, it is closer to a few members but the cost of Hotels/House for the event are much higher there than any other location that I've looked up.
The next option is in Lakeland Florida which is... Southwest of Orlando & Northeast of Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater My family has a 2 Bedroom/2 Story Townhouse there which can sleep at least 1/2 a dozen if not more. Nick who hasn't been on the board much recently currently still lives in Tampa as well.
In Seattle a few could crash her but thats a long flight for most.
Vegas is a great bang for buck city but long flight for many.
***Large Factors*** My work schedule and the schedule of tasks for the computer servicing company I am creating and leading this year will determine the possible location of this most. It will be located in Seattle and Jacksonville. KMFDM may be on tour around this time as well.

I'm in favor of Florida simply because it's about as far a drive for me as DC would be, if I calculated the distances correctly I have a female friend in FL I've been wanting to meet for a while also My SO has a couple of friends who work at Universal Studios park, so it would be more likely that he'd accompany me (and probably try to meet up with them, which I don't mind, he hasn't seen them in a few years). And it'd be warm... I'm a warm weather baby Downside would be the humidity and probably prices -- and lack of things to do? Is there anything to do that wouldn't require driving to Orlando/Tampa? And could our webmaster handle a return to Florida? My second choice is Las Vegas. I'm thinking of all the drunken debauchery we could enjoy. Plus, PINBALL! Hmm, the more I think of it maybe I should change my vote to Vegas... but ugh, the cost of a ticket rules it out for me. I'm curious to see what others think. NP

I can't afford to fly, so I'll be driving wherever. DC would be easier for me, but yeh, it's expensive. Assuming my car is holding up well enough, I could probably do a drive to FL. I'd probably have to make it a 2 day trip since I'll most likely be coming alone. I have a friend in Tampa though. It'd be nice to see him again. I dunno if there's much to do there though - he always complains about there not being anything to do, haha. We could see alligators though... Anyway, I'm refraining from voting because FL is a hell of a drive for me, but DC is expensive... it's kind of a lose lose situation. I know for sure I couldn't do Vegas or Seattle or anything further than a day's drive.

Okay, how about a totally biased suggestion...? Tennessee? www.tnvacation.com/Museums, aquariums, Graceland, casinos, cool Native American stuff, the Blue Ridge Parkway, mountains (maybe skiing depending on how early it gets cold), a fall time soybean festival, and Halloweeny stuff including cemetary tours and corn mazes and pumpkin patches. I mean, yeh, I'm mainly suggesting it because it's oh so close to me, but it really is nice there. I dunno how well it would work, but we have a cabin on top of Roan Mountain ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roan_Mountain,_Tennessee). It's small, but it's got 2 bedrooms. It's rustic (in a nice way - it's got a wood stove in the livingroom and a screened porch. My grandpa built it himself). It'd be nice to stay a nite or two there, but I dunno if you guys could handle more than that. It's literally pretty much on top of the mountain with no one else around. Not safe to go walking around at nite there - bears and mountain lions and such. And no internet (sorry guys!). Anyway, it's an economical idea (that would be so easily affordable for me, harhar). Plus, I mean, c'mon, a bunch of RayWatts people at Graceland? Can you imagine the great pictures we'd have! Hehehe. And Appalachian Trail hiking. Boy I'd be beat, but I bet HP would love it, and we'd have even more kickass photos to share. ;D

World's Fair Park & Festival Center Knoxville, TN With all its lovely landscaping, wide, open spaces and wonderful water features, the new World's Fair Park provides endless possibilities for celebrating life in Knoxville, Tennessee. Miles of lawn, acres of flowers, cascading waterfalls, placid streams, and many more gifts of natural beauty create an inviting environment for festivals, performances, meetings, conferences, or a quiet moment for personal reflection. (I've wanted to go here since that Simpsons episode with the wig tower hehehe) Ripley's Haunted Adventure Gatlinburg, TN Prepare for an adventure into fear itself. One of the few year-round haunted houses with live actors. Children under 6 not admitted. Come and explore your nightmare. Historic Rugby Rugby, TN Restored 1880 utopian village founded by famous British author, Thomas Hughes. 17 Victorian-era buildings remain unchanged, including a 7,000 volume Hughes Library & Christ Church Episcopal. Daily tours, museum shop, dining and lodging in historic buildings. Okay, I OCDed on this stuff tonite. If cost is a problem I'm sure a few of us would be willing to pitch in. DC's the most convenient option given for me. ...Still if we could hook something up in Pittsburgh that would be the absolute greatest, well for me anyway.

That is ALL there is to do in Northeastern Tennessee, and imo, skip Bays Mountain Planetarium; it's over an hour away from everything else mentioned, it closed in October or early November to begin a remodeling/upgrading, and I'm not sure the surrounding park stays open through the winter (they have wolves Also, everything you've mentioned is 45 minutes to 2 hours away from me). World's Fair Park is in a rough section of Knoxville; it's a classic case of "upgrade the park and maybe the sourrounding area will magically improve with no further investment on the part of the city." Before that it was pretty much the abandoned leftovers of the World's Fair. I'm surprised no mention of Dollywood came up, since it's next door to Gatlinburg in Pigeon Forge, and once you get past the idea of it being Dolly-Parton-related, it's not bad. BTW, Graceland is the other end of the state... that's about a 10 or 12 hour drive from here, enough that I've never done it and I've lived in this state over 16 years now! I wouldn't mind going back to the zoo or aquarium or Oak Ridge (that is a FUN science museum!), and it looks like Gatlinberg will, thanks to lack of funds, be home to my wedding and honeymoon when those two finally happen. If we're going to toss around cities in the region where I live, why not cross the state line and go to Asheville? It has the Biltmore, and supposedly downtown has gone through a lovely revival. NP mgrainey and rambling

I am in favor of anything within driving distance of New England. I cannot afford another set of plane tickets and Florida is too far of a drive. Tennessee is acceptable because I have distant inlaws who live outside of Nashville... Although, I prefer DC over that.

Hmmm, I think I will second Nashville. (And I am deeply, perversely flattered by what seems to be desperation on the part of many to venture to my geographic backyard simply to meet me ; ) ) NP

You're right, that does seem a bit cruel maybe we can split up the hour amongst ourselves... ;D

Well it's not one hour per person per nite, duuuhhh. We don't want to be too worn out for the rest of the fun! No no, just one hour per nite... divided by what? 6 people or so so far? That's only 10 minutes spanking time each. If you can't take 10 minutes of spankings, you don't deserve to come!
;p

OK Read the first post again. I'll be updating it a lot. I'm busy with work/computer business. I'll be flying to FL many times a year now (starting next week). KMFDM may be on tour during that time but don't know the specifics of locations/dates yet. I want everyone to look up flight cost to ORLANDO FL the week of October 31st.

I have friends living about an hour from Seattle. I would prefer Seattle over Orlando... I'll look up flight costs in a bit.... I really wished we could be closer... I don't know if I can afford another flight this year....
