I'm sick of doing pseudo tech support on the phone for morons and being in a boring annoying corporate environment. I don't want a job on the phone, no retail job, and basically I don't want to work for anyone else. I don't want to work with losers and elders that cry about their lame lives. I don't know of any other business I'd rather do than make a Bar/Club/Concert venue. I found a piece of property thats on par with most venues size & location wise. I'll be checking it out tonight after work (late night). I'll be able to see if hobos and dealers hang out in the area.
My Bar would play no pop music, it would play only music that I enjoy but would play requests if they are a paying customer (no crap though).
It would be like Hard Rock live in the aspect of playing music videos and having a bar.
At first I'd only sell beer and wine (liquor licenses are impossible to find and go for over 100K).
I would make it a lounge as opposed to the Bubba bar setup all other bars have here.
I would NEVER play sports on the screens.
I would be open EVERY Sunday which I think would be a good day to have a whole day of Happy Hour since very few leave there house's on Sunday and not much else is open.

It should also have Manchego with the booze... for principle's sake.

I just checked it out.
Pros -Right near where I-95 and I-10 meet. -Right off of I-95 -Decent amount of land for parking -Already has cool graffiti on it -A nice little park across the street -Not far from downtown (a minute or so)
Cons -In the Ghettoooo (there is no REAL ghetto in Jacksonville (I've road surveyed a large percentage of it on one job on foot), just people living in poverty with no desire to advance themselves) -Not much lighting on some surrounding streets -No real surrounding businesses

I've driven through that area on I-95, so I know what you are talking about with the slums and all. I bet it gets a lot worse once you get farther from 95

I've walked many of the streets around that area, the people aren't too bad but its not a good culture. The roads aren't in bad condition I'll really have to do more research on the area.

You should start a mailing list perhaps and pass out flyers in the area that you're starting said place. Find all the industrial fans and a few curious fellows in advance and tell them about the place.

If I have to start off in a hole in the wall ex-barber shop I'll do it that way too.

Hey, good luck man. The world could certainly use a few more bars, clubs and pubs that play decent music as opposed to a relentless barrage of shithouse pop crap.
Oh and have you considered putting in a few pool tables? Everyone loves pool.

I would have a few Pool coin tables and arcade games.
Presently I'm making a database of people in the Jacksonville FL (Northeast FL) area that like unique music.
