The Skinny Puppy side project ohGr is to release a new album, their 3rd one so far, in October 17th 2008. Tthe album will be named "Devils In My Details" and will be released on Synthetic Symphony/SPV. More info at www.ohgr.org (someday...)
ohGr is the band formed by Nivek Ogre, of Skinny Puppy, and musician/engineer Mark Walk. The band was officially formed in 2001, although the material for the first album, "Welt" dates back to the mid-nineties, having been held up due to legal trouble with American Recordings. Al Jourgensen was also originally involved and only one track he collaborated on has been leaked to the public, titled "Noreen". The music of that song later became industrial metal group Ministry's "The Fall", on their 1996 album "Filth Pig".

Anyone familiar with Ogre--the formidable solo artist and front man for electronic-rock avatars Skinny Puppy--would expect that at this juncture in his long and storied career, he'd, you know, chill out. After years of delivering intense physical performances and lyrical mise en scenes framing mankind's thoughtlessness, one would hope the singer would maybe buy a log cabin up in the mountains, take up an acoustic guitar and prepare a disc's worth of Appalachian folk songs recorded on wax-cylinder technology.
Yeah, like that's ever going to happen. Fortunately, the front man for ohGr is ready to unveil his debut solo disc for SPV, Devils In My Details. If the previous ohGr disc, 2003's SunnyPsyOp, was an old-school electro-influenced affair with a twist of anxiety and a few dashes of neurosis, ohGr 2K8 is an emotionally beaten vessel that deceptively looks as strong as a kitten--barring the massive subterfuge he's about to unleash upon you. As captivating as Devil In My Details is musically, Ogre sees the disc as an opportunity to clarify some things.
If Skinny Puppy comes off as a sensory assault at face value, ohGr's Devils is like a small child skillfully concealing a bloody cleaver behind her back. The disc is filled with a great sense of whimsy and abject terror--think Clive Barker producing a Syd Barrett album. Recorded in a marathon Pro Tools session with longtime creative foil Mark Walk, Devils In My Details was actually realized as one long work before its creators wisely broke it down into 11 tracks. Ogre and Walk's m.o. was to create an immersive experience similar to classic '70s concept albums (Ogre cites Genesis' The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and titles by the Alan Parsons Project as personal favorites of his youth) and 21st century videogames. "What makes for an immersive experience these days?" the singer asks, rhetorically. "It's videogames. There are a lot of sounds within Devils In My Details that will stick in the consciousness of new listeners."
"I'm grateful to be able to make a record like this," Ogre says, lucidly. "If we were in any other situation, the standard model is to write two hit singles and fill in the holes as best you can. That's the mode a lot of musicians are in right now. We're trying to do things from the heart, regardless of what the commerce end of music dictates."
Devils In My Details: Come for the trip, stay for the music. Some psychic travel required.

I wonder if Skold will be part of the touring lineup this time around. If so, I will for sure be hitting up a show.

He filmed an instructional DVD with Steve Perkins from Jane's Addiction in July, shot by Dean Karr. Haven't heard anything about when it's being released. He's also supposed to have a new track on the soundtrack to this video game called Brutal Legend coming out in March.

Part of it is him showing the viewer how to play Manson's Putting Holes in Happiness (which will come in handy for me, because there's parts of the solo where I have no idea what the hell he's doing, and I was pretty sure he didn't either, but I guess he does!), and the other part is an improvisational jam with Perkins. Or something like that.

We could have a Raymond Watt's forum member convention in DC and just happen to schedule it during the tour... so I don't have to make 3 trips (already going to DC Oct 6th to see Nick Cave).

WHORE! I've been a forum member for FOUR YEARS! You have not visited me once. ->During a majority of the time that I have been available to visit your area of the empire you weren't in a situation to be capable of hosting and or able to obtain much free time.
->You are welcome to visit me.
->Eventually we will run into each other (figuratively).

During the 2006 Pig tour Me, Nick, the Web Mistress of TheSwining.com and a few others met up at a few shows.
Eventually I'll play an event on a date that will be a long way out so people can plan and save enough change for the trip.
How does Halloween or New Years in 2009 sound?

Okay,
1) RW Forums tour in DC = best idea of the year. I've known many of you for over three years now... It's about damn time I met you all in person. 2) WHEN the fuck have you been here, HP? Probably during the semester when I was in the state that YOU MOVED TO. 3) I'm actually attending a wedding in Northern California in two weeks. If you "just happen" to be in that area around then, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm broke for the next year.
But yeah, a longterm plan for everyone to save and meet each other is a fantastic idea.... Perhaps you should admin us a new thread concerning this issue.
PS, the badass motherfucker that can get Raymond Watts to attend this thing gets their leg humped personally by me.

DC? Dear Lord, I think I could actually make it to DC, I've never been but I think it's a 7 or 8 hour drive from where I currently am, and I'm pretty sure if I pull over once or twice for some "servicing" of the SO the SO would come along and not bitch about it (I'm kind of nervous about travelling by myself). I'm pretty sure at least one of you would have to drive through this godforsaken region of TN I live in just to catch the proper interstates to DC, anyhow... ooh, must start saving up money and start working out again.... NP P.S. I'll hump the other leg of whoever gets Raymond Watts to attend, assuming I haven't tackled and attempted to sexually molest Ray-Ray himself and subsequently been arrested.

From the Venues I've been to on this list or know of there are some quality/decent sized venues here. They are more well known than PIG right?

Well I've been to Cat's Cradle and The Masquerade in Atlanta. They're not super big, but they're bigger than your average bar.
I don't know who is more well known... from what I've seen, both are obscure to just about anyone but hardcore fans. People I know who listen to Skinny Puppy have never heard of ohGr and people I know who listen to KMFDM have never heard of PIG. It's just kind of weird... But I would say the venue size is about the same tour wise for both bands. Last time PIG rolled through I think they played Tremont Music Hall which is about the same size as Cat's Cradle or The Masquerade.

I saw PIG @ The Masquerade in Atlanta. It is a fairly big venue for a Industrial genre related band. It is about damn time that SP fans learn of Ohgr and that KMFDM fans learn of PIG We've done a good job here but there is so much more distance to go.

No video or pictures but I'll tell ya about the show...
First Phase - Mostly new songs (First Two Songs Ogre Sings Backwards From Crowd)
Second Phase - Older Songs
Third Phase Encore - Old Classics (Minus/Cracker)
Line-up - Drummer, Bassist/Guitarist, Keyboardist, Ogre
Drummer added some good fills Bassist/Guitarist was decent Keyboardists did somethings not on albums Ogre was kind of intersting/entertaining but not overly
Good show overall and worth the wait.
