Specifically, on the KMFDM entry (long story as to why I was over there, I try to avoid it like the plague). Up somewhere near the beginning of the article, it was mentioned that Raymond has his own project, Pig, which is gothic music. Yes, GOTHIC. Even better, because of its "orchestral work and macabre lyrics." I went in and anonymously fixed that error, but given that the mod for that entry seems to be an absolute ass, I won't be surprised if my correction vanishes -- even though the entry for Pig (music) correctly id's Pig as "industrial". So, in case my correction does mysteriously vanish, could the other members here spend a few minutes correcting it? I'm hoping if enough people go in and fix it (assuming my change vanishes) that maybe the ass of a mod will realize Pig ISN'T goth and let the correction stand. NP

You'll find a lot of bullshit like that. I found both PIG and KMFDM in the pop/rock section, whilest other bands (like the Kidney Thieves, etc.) were sitting in the heavy metal section at FYE.
Some people are ignorant and retarded, I guess.

Some people are ignorant and retarded, I guess. We have ghetto FYEs in this area (small ones, badly stocked), the one here in town doesn't even have a heavy metal section, it's that small. The couple of larger ones in this immediate area stick KMFDM under pop/rock, and none of the three have anything Pig (unless you count the NIN tribute albums track). I'm pretty sure the ones two hours away (pick a direction, any direction) also don't stock any artist who's not been massively popular within the past few years. (I'm not even sure my local ones would know what company to contact if I asked them to order anything Pig that's still in print). Anyhow, I have yet to see any FYE that has an "industrial" section, and I suspect that's because the chain considers industrial to be fringe, so I'm not surprised KMFDM and Pig were in the catchall "pop/rock" section. (I've also noticed Sam Goody sticks KMFDM in "pop/rock"... same with Circuit City and Best Buy... ) As long as Pig and KMFDM are never sold at Wal-Mart, I can live with the inconvenience of idiots misclassifying them as rock (although couldn't it be argued that industrial is a subgenre of rock, and therefore can be classified as rock?). No good music is sold at Walmart. Except for oldies and classic rock. That's about it.

Agreed. The world needs a new flavor of something... When I figure out what that something is, and make billions of dollars off of it, I'll get back to you.

In defense of genre labeling (which I think is necessary in the music store as my story will illustrate), I've picked up a couple albums in the past which looked really great from the outside (so I'm a buy it then try it chick - you caught me) and they turned out to be...GASP...country! Since it's impossible to judge a CD by its cover with 100% accuracy, music stores need to categorize their selections in an accurate way. Sorry. I'm ranting.

I like the idea of music genres. If I were to walk into a music store and it actually had an industrial section I could look, see all the stuff I like, and maybee notice some band I have never heard of, and listen to them. And learn a new band. the problem is when kmfdm is dance, pig is rock, thrill kill kult is in the dance section and the rock section, and skinny puppy has managed to get into soundtrackes or something.

Precisely. If I have a basis of comparison, I can make a better judgment as to whether or not I'll like something new.

Wikipedia has many errors overall.
I looked up Prince's entry once and it said:
"Prince is a nigger mix."
See, that's totally offensive.
I thought Prince was a female midget of vietnamese origin.
Just shows you the crap people will put on there.

How Prince was ever conceived of as "sexy" is beyond me. But yeah... It only takes a small group of stupid hormonal teenagers with computers to ruin wikipedia.

just my 2 cents... why the hell are there so many sub-categories when it comes to music genres? 'dark wave' - 'black wave' - 'ambient wave' - 'dark ambient' wtf? its music. sub-categorizing like that makes me think that the people that make up, and adhere to those pre-defined ideals of 'seperating bleeps from bloops' are nothing more than pompus jackasses with nothing better to do than pathetically attempting to make themselves feel better because they "listen to the most exclusive remix of Assimilate" that was only on blue & purple vinyl, with only 30 copies printed and it was printed on Halloween in Bavaria... under a full moon while goblins were jumping on their frickin graves too! oh, and there were some 'spooky and creepy' gargoyle statues at the nearby castle. despite, possibly sounding like a hypocrite, i do agree with categorizing to SOME degree. rock, rap, industrial, pop, etc. they're like guide posts. but, at what point is the division of music boundaries pointless and only the exercise of a separatist/elitist?

Fuck those loser mods on Wikipedia. They actually take pride in their work considering what they do to be great from all humanity. I added a 2-Kut page because someone made a link from the Raymond Watts page to a non-existing 2-Kut page then some fag wikiaddict deleted it saying it wasn't related or some bullshit. I'll just spend more time on this site instead of adding things to that site.

This is when you scholl his sorry ass on the facts. Show him buttloads of links that back your point and make him look like a fool. Just don't do that with republicans...I spent 4 months sifting through all their bullshit and showing them that their "facts" where nothing more then near-lie spins.

Damn, I have the goblin mix also....28 to go !! Surely there has to be some sort of order ? If your looking for <PIG> then it will not matter as you can search alphabetically & sometimes (only sometimes) (in the UK anyway) there may be a sign saying what it's related to. I purchased a Jack Off Jill CD as it apparently had Manson as drummer !! Interesting I thought. I love the CD but there's no mention of Manson. He may have had no influence or assisted at all so we must all learn from this. Todays moral...research for what you want, gamble less & don't take advice from monkeys working in record stores.

I like 'Covetous Creatures' ( think that's how it's spelt). It's like a remix album, quite shouty but pretty ok. If you like I can get some CD's over to you ?
