I have very rarely met Pigface fans that like or even know about PIG. In my experience people that like Pigface like Ministry, Rammstein, KMFDM, Type O Negative, TKK, NIN, Marilyn Manson and pretty much anything "Industrial". I've turned some Pigface fans onto PIG but most are just fucking oblivious to PIG's musical supremecy to Pigface.

Pig is a bit harder to swallow than KMFDM, especially if you're new to the industrial music... Took me a couple months of occasionally hearing it on KMFDM radio to get into it... Then I fell in love... And I cannot part with it. Ever.

I only really got into PIG a few years ago when I met Raymond in a pub in london. He was with Sascha etc. as KMFDM were playing a gig around the corner. He seemed to be humbled by the fact that I had travelled 3 hours to see them & lost about £400 salary that afternoon to get to london. Now, I have most PIG tracks & half-way through collecting the side-projects. My Bank manager would like to take this opportunity ofthanking Mr Watts for my continue contribution to my overdraft & bank charges!!!!!!

Not one track and any Pigface cd is impressive. They are decent live only because of their energy and even that takes what 10 fuck'n people? The only time I truly enjoyed them was live when Jared Louche of Chemlab did one Chemlab track live with them. That alone was worth $15.

I keep meaning to give them another shot. Maybe I need to and then I can work on converting Pigface fans to PIG.

Pigface are good, but for every awesome song there's a couple of shit ones.
Admittedly my opinion is based on the one album I've heard, which is Notes From Thee Underground. If you can get it cheap I'd say its worth it.

to answer the question:
pig and pigface are completely different. raymond is a composer, and pigface is more experimental. it's a completely different type of experience.
saw pigface live a few years ago and i must say, it was quite thrilling.

I don't like Pigface, I can't think of any pigface song that I can actually enjoy. Except for Hip, Lips, Tits. But they milked the hell out of that song on "Washing machine Mouth". And "GUB" sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom by a group of chimps on meth.
Both Foetus and Pig are far and above Pigface on every level, they are by far the top of the "industrial" music evolutionary scale. Which is funny considering that pigface is supposed to be some kind of supergroup.

You are dead right, both are so so different i find it almost immpossible to compare them. I got into Pigface long before Pig cuz i'm an experimental nut. Anything slightly expermental to me is exciting. Hell i knew of pigface before i knew Nine inch nails! sometimes i forget that knowing the diffenence in popularity now. If you ask me, pigface could be one of the hardest bands of all time to get into (if u can call them a band) and if ur into them i would say u could like almost anything. I suggest listening to songs by pigface which feature specific artists u might know (such as En Esch and Ogre) or listen to some of the artists that have sprung up because of pigface (ie Meg Lee Chin) And as for Pigface fans not being fans of Pig, I would say its just the not hearing about em yet. I've met ppl who support Pigface, KMFDM etc like a bitch and yet are clueless to Pig. Strange i know..... hmmmm.... did i just rant?! Crap! Apologies!!! Jamez

My opinion of Pigface is that it's a bunch of great musicians who get together and make mediocre or sometimes even terrible music...

My opinion of Pigface is that it's a bunch of great musicians who get together and make mediocre or sometimes even terrible music... Very much the truith. The songs felt that some of the best minds in the industrial scene, and Martin Atkins, got together and threw a bunch of songs, that wouldn't fit on their own work, into a pile and called it 'Pigface' When I heard the lineup of the band I thought they'd do something 10,000,000 times better. But that was one big dissapointment.

I'm a bit of a Pigface fan. I have at least ten of their albums. So I'll give my input on the subject.
As for the bands listed, Ministry is awesome, Rammstein is boring, KMFDM kicks ass, Type O Negative sucks, I haven't listened to enough TKK to tell if I like them or not, NIN blows, and my girlfriend likes Marilyn Manson, but I think they're total shit.
Pigface is a good band, and so is Pig. But it's stupid to compare the two. Of course Pig is more structured, more consistent, and generally better in the eyes of Pig fans, simply because Pig has a definate style to his music, while all of Pigface's individual songs change because the members working on each is never the same, minus the drummer, which is the legendary Martin Atkins.
There are, however, two factors that have made Pigface suck:
First of all, there are a lot of songs that they have created that suck because they're so irritating or just crappy. That's because of the member changes. The members haven't worked together before, and when they do, they come up with some really weird stuff because of the clashing styles and because the only person taking the music seriously is Martin Atkins (at least this is what I believe. Why should anyone care about a song that they're a part of when they're only a fraction of a single song on an album?).
Secondly, most of their releases have the same fucking songs on them. That's just lazy. The music gets boring. And if there were more variations on the tracks, I would have picked up that copy of "Truth Will Out" at the CD store. But I won't any time soon because I've heard all but maybe four of the tracks before. Seriously, how many fucking times do I need to hear "Asphole", "Divebomber", "Suck", and the others three?
Although the repeating tracks over so many albums piss me off, "Washingmachine Mouth", "The Best of Pigface", and "Easy Listening..." are all good albums. "Feels Like Heaven..." is also pretty good if you're in a mood for Pigface. Those four albums (or three first ones) are all you need, really. After those, you've pretty much heard 'em all.
And I'm also really surprised at this topic. Pigface better than Pig? The only things they have in common are that they're industrial and both have "Pig" in their names. Oh, and they've worked with members of KMFDM. But of course you're all going to say that Pig is better; we're on a damn Pig fan site!
Face it. You can't compare them. You really can't compare any band to Pigface.

They have some amazing ones, but most really blow. That is not the case with Pig. Pig brings out good to classic songs with each album. His quality of music is exponentially higher then Pigface. Also: Martin Atkins is a fucking hack. The shit that son of a bitch has pulled kills all credability he could ever have as a musician, produicer, and as a human being.

Yes, you can compare the quality of the music or sound, but it would be logical to consider why there would be a lower or higher quality than something else. I explained this in saying that the lineup changes, the musicians clash, and there's only one consistent member throughout each song.

Very true, but you are looking at some of the best minds in the industrial scene, and Martin Atkins. That should account for something, regardless of if they clash. I see your point as for the changing of the bandmates, but people have teamed up before and brought better songs into the fold.

True, but it's somehow different with Pigface. I can see why something like Ogre writing songs with KMFDM would work ('cause it did), because there weren't a bunch of random people, KMFDM made it one of their songs, and just used the Ogre element. And Skinny Puppy and KMFDM have very different styles.
Then again, for their crap songs, Pigface didn't have very good lineups working on those.
I really wish I knew the writing process of Pigface in detail. Maybe Atkins just sucks at directing groups of people. Maybe the artists don't really care.

The former. Atkins sucks. Trent, Ministry, and most all the people on the UHB will back me on that one. I think Ogre and Jared might say the same, too.
Also: Don't forget that KMFDM's Symbols album had collaberations with Abby Travis, Raymond Watts, AND Bill. That, plus the infighting with Sascha and En Esch and we still got an AMAZING album from them.
