Windows 7 Beta
I never tried Vista but from what I tried it didn't interest me. I've gotten bored of XP and thought I'd try Windows 7 in Beta.
I just installed it today. It didn't take to long. Just burn an ISO, install, type in key, do updates, reboot and config...
I like a plain ass looking OS with out bubble buttons and bars. It looks like there is a good amount to customize.
It didn't take long to configure my 24" Samsung Monitor and Laptop power settings.
More Updates soon...

Vista isn't as bad as the Mac users like to annoy America with. You have to have a really good processor. I've had no problems with it whatsoever.... But you're not the first person I've heard that's liked Win7 so far.... If I had time, I'd test it out too... Keep me posted on your findings... with screenshots, if you have the time.

on the front side: Windows 7 is a less resource hoggy version of Vista. The major features people like on Vista are still there and UAC has taken a less aggressive stance on the OS. On the inside: They have removed just about EVERYTHING from the kernel. Blue screen errors are going to become almost non-existent, now. When individual drivers or registry keys fail: you'll just get the failure and an attempt to reload because of their independence. For the most part: I like the idea of Windows 7. I'm looking at going 64 bit after it comes out.

Rex seems to like it a fair bit. Not nearly as much as XP, but much more so than Vista.

It runs choppy somewhat on my Core2Duo 2ghz laptop with 3gb of ram. I've had a few probs with my machines main cooling fan but that shouldn't make it clock down enough to do this. I miss the old version of notepad and explorer.

Vista has definitely grown on me. I'm interested in seeing what's up with 7.

After doing some system maintenance on my laptop and updates Windows 7 is a pretty jamm'n OS overall.

Yeah. It's supposed to replace Vista all around. UAC should be less aggressive. The performance should be slick and beautiful. My only issue is the fact that they only use icons on their programs on the toolbar.

RTM version is leaked and some cool loaders are available on the web. I tried the beta on a virtual machine and I really liked it. I'll give it a try somewhere soon.
Still, I won't change my Debian with the KDE 4.3 eyecandy by anything...

Interesting. Unfortunately, I'm not due for another new lappy for another 4 years. 3, if I'm lucky.
