Hello! I joined a little while back but have pretty much just come along to read the new stuff when I have time. Sorry for being a forum ghost!
Um, well my name's Ella, I'm 22 and live in the UK. Got into Pig in my mid-teens and have loved the music ever since.
That's pretty much it, I'm not even remotely interesting!

We don't mind loitering at all as it is much better than lurking, but making a noise from time to time is appreciated. What area of the UK are you at? We have a few members there. I went there once in 2005 and will most likely see some of it again someday as I still have relatives over there. You say that you're not even remotely interesting? Why do you say that? You've had to have done something interesting in 22 years!

Thank you I've lived all over the UK and whilst I'm not going to post my current whereabouts let's just say it's cold, wet and surrounded by trees! I'm really not all that interesting, I seem to bumble through life experiencing many interesting things but not actually being a part of them. Unless of course you count drunken mishaps which my friends seem to find hilarious and getting so lost and confused on public transport that I often end up with surprise holidays.

Odds are that you live in or near London What would you suggest someone check out on a visit to the UK if they only went once?

Wow, there's a lot to choose from!
Personally I would always pick London Aquarium. I know it's tame and not exactly cultural but you get to pet sharks and stingrays! I am an animal lover and very fond of water, rather biased!
If you are part of an alternative culture you should check out Camden Town in London. It's literally a small town dedicated to alternative culture, fashion, music and clubs. Found most of my Pig collection there.
Other London goodies would be Madam Tusauds, Tower of London, The Dungeons, it goes on and on.
For beautiful scenery you really want to leave central England all together and head north to Scotland or south west to Wales.
History and culture is everywhere, just get off the plane and you can't miss it! This is an island of castles and dusty books!
I could list tons of stuff here that make the UK sound great but whatever you do keep hold of your bag tight! Run away from anyone who says they're with the BNP and never eat carnival food! EVER!

Hello all. I'm 'round these parts as well. I linked via HighProtein's plug on theswining forum, which I'm also new to. Been loving Raymond for years and years now, but mostly lack of motivation and partially crappy dialup internet have prevented me from bothering with forums previously. Now I'm back in school (computer programming major) and have a lot of time in class to do nothing but play on the school's high speed internet (since I am one of the few, if not only, people to actually get their work done on time and not have to use class time to do homework *sigh*). Anywho, name's Crystal, but friends call me Luna. I don't really care which you call me as I'm kinda eh about socialization in general. On that note, feel free to add me on IM as I don't even have any internet friends anymore, hah, and I spend more than my fair share of nites fighting insomnia and visual basic. Other than that, I'm 27, live in a little "town" outside Rocky Mount, NC (which is neither rocky nor mountainous) called Pinetops (which is full of pine trees). Computer programming student and pizza delivery slave... I'm known as a little black ball of hate around these parts, but I'm really a nice person, I promise... I mean as long as you aren't stupid or rude or lazy (which does disqualify about 90% of the human population, but still, I try!). That's my ramblings for the day. Nice to "meet" you all. I look forward to wasting many many hours here. Oh PS - does the avatar URL link not work or am I just retarded? I put in my URL and the width/height, but it won't go through. Does the board not like Picasa or am I doing something wrong?

Well, unfortunately I won't be giving anyone free music as I'm on dialup internet at home. I do sometimes try to download stuff while I'm at school though, if I have time. Hey, I'm one of the only students to actually get my stuff done on time, I feel I have the right, nay the obligation, to spend the time I'm sitting there twiddling my thumbs waiting for the other students to catch up downloading kickass stuff!

Are we few in number here as well? Seems the music I like, no one else... well they not only don't like it, but in most cases has never even heard of it! I think country used to be the big thing around here, but now even the rednecks are into rap...

That's like here... 10 years ago. Wiggers are almost extinct where I live. I guess fads come slow down south. My area's just getting out of the emo phase.

Yeh, I guess it doesn't help that like 90% of this part of the state is nothing but black people. And let me just state for the record I am not rascist or anything, I hate all people equally, but it has often been commented that I'm the whitest girl in Rocky Mount. I'm definitely the only person in this part of the state who listens to industrial metal and positively the only one who listens to so many German bands. So, now that I have a fancy new radio in my Volvo, when I pull up to a red light next to some wanna be thugs blasting some rap, I crank up my ohGr, Nick Cave, Letzte Instanz, PIG, Cradle of Filth, or whatever other random stuff I'm listening to at the moment. Needless to say I get quite a few looks (as if the purple hair wasn't enough hehe). I kind of take pride in being "the whitest girl around"... the whole modern day everyone things they are thugtastic thing just really pisses me off... I could go one and on about why I hate these freakin' people, but I guess I've ranted enough for now.

Okay, here is what you do:
-Get an FM transmitter for your laptop -Get a friend to help you set this up -Make a play list of really annoying music... I recommend adding "Fish Heads" by Barnes and Barnes -Set the FM transmitter up, putting the play setting on the local popular rap station (Don't hit play yet!) -Drive around until you reach a stop light where the person next to you is listening to the radio. -NOW hit play and watch the entertainment begin.

Yeh... first I have to actually get a laptop.
Look at me! The world's only computer programming student who doesn't own a laptop! And let me tell you, with the 100 degree temps we've been having this week and only a window unit AC in the bedroom and the computer in the livingroom... boy do I really wish I had one now. *sigh*

Walmart sells some decent ones. Just save up some cashola in a change jar. The p0x (whenever he gets off his arse and starts posting again) could probably recommend you some decent ones.
FM Transmitters also work for some MP3 players too... Doesn't really matter how you do it... if you can piss off a few people and laugh about it, then it is worth this hysteria.

Yeh, I'm just ridiculously broke. Going too much into my personal life, last year my house was foreclosed on. I was engaged, my fiancee and I bought a house together, a year later he left me with a house and car I couldn't afford and very quickly lost. Prior to the foreclosure I took on some roomates to try to help me pay the bills. Instead of helping pay the bills, they ran up about $800 in power, phone, water, trash, etc and never paid a penny in rent. Prior to all that happening, one of my cats got very sick, was in ICU and died 2 days later. Prior to that I was in 2 car accidents that totaled 2 cars for which the settlement money went to pay off the aforementioned fiancee's credit cards instead of my hospital bills so we could clear up his credit enough to purchase the aforementioned house. And now, I'm working a suck ass pizza job making minimum wage and no tips now thanks to the suckass gas prices and economy taking away everyone else's ability to tip. I can't get a good job because there are none around here and if one comes available it always has hours required during my class time weekday mornings. So, super long, super stupid story a little shorter - I'm broke as fuck, probably will be for at least the next 10 years (assuming I can get a good programming job when I finish my degree). And if/when I do ever get a good job, I'll have the aforementioned hospital bills, vet bills, leftover house bills, and tution bills to pay off before I can even consider something as "splurge-ful" as a laptop. 27-fucking-years-old and I'm probably at least $25,000 in debt. Andso the only shot I'm going to have at a laptop in those 10 years is if I get lucky enough to find one on craigslist for like $100. And the moral of the story is: NEVER FUCKING TRUST ANYONE! /rant

Hang in there, dear. My sister declared bankrupcy and bought a house in under 3 years. You can bounce back. It is possible. Just gotta keep going.

Yeh I guess... more often than not I'm just kind of going through the motions anymore. Just making the time pass. I get sick and tired of dealing with it all and optomism is the devil. If I could just win the powerball I'd be all set. 300 acres in the middle of nowhere and a 20 foot tall fence around the whole thing. A farm full of animals and no humans allowed goddammit! I get so sick and tired of people. I've always had little faith in humanity, now I think I have none left at all. It's too much effort to trust anyone anymore and they always just end up screwing you over in the end anyway. Ah yes, grouchy old woman before I'm 30...

It is my dream to be the old lady with the millions of cats, sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch with a sawed-off shotgun scarring the little children away from my property.
...Damn kids.

Oh yes, that is the dream. Of course, I'll be in the middle of nowhere, but the stupid drunken teenage kids can ride by my house like it's the texas chainsaw massacre... and also, my cats will be trained attack cats, so I'll have no need for the shotgun. The cats will take them down and I'll finish the job with my bare hands. It's so much nicer to strangle the life out of some smartass young upstart than to just shoot them... bullets are soooo impersonal. But I'm still holding out hope for the zombie apocalypse dammit!

Welcome indeed, cracked! I feel your pain with your hatred of names. I was named after Heather Locklear.... True story. My dad thought she was hot.

Aww, at least Heather is a pretty name! It doesn't sound like some demented great aunt who smokes licorice cigarillos and is covered in cats!
Yup, El is quite pierced, lol! So am I! One of our best mates is a body piercer and record trader (lucky us) so we're uber holey XD. Mind you it's dainty metal jewellery, not that god awful bling crap!
