Top fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London, England, home Thursday, a spokesman for his company said. The designer, born Lee McQueen, had a reputation for controversy that earned him the titles "enfant terrible" and "the hooligan of English fashion." Asked about reports of McQueen's death, London's Metropolitan Police said a 40-year-old man was found dead at an address in Green Street, central London. They would not confirm his identity, and said the death was not being treated as suspicious. A statement on behalf of his family said: "Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family. "Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this." Fellow designer Vivienne Westwood was "incredibly sorry" to hear the news, a spokesman was quoted by Britain's Press Association as saying. Respect and wellwishes to Mr. McQueen's family of course. I didn't like a lot of his stuff but he had the occasional neat piece and seemed like an alright guy. But uh... what the hell does this mean for Raymond? I been, between King Ink's ultimatum and McQueen's passing...

Wow... that really sucks. Not a fan of all his stuff, but really appreciated the art that he put into his work.

From what I've heard, he's had a rough month or so. His mum died a couple weeks ago too.

That's the worst. I wish there was something anyone could do to convince him that he still had a lot of amazing art to show the world.
