Now not to sound sappy/in the holiday spirit, but over the last month or so, my bf and I have been talking about plans and traditions we would make if we were to have a wedding. Then the issue popped up: What song could we play?
We're both fanatics of KMFDM and PIG, but what song could be appropriate? Ideas outside of those two bands are welcome. Keep in mind, it will be played in front of FAMILY, so we are trying to avoid graphic detail (that they would notice) and not to sound overtly weird/depressing/creepy. (I was thinking "Blades", but it was just too down.)
If this is also helpful, I'm thinking of a night-sky themed wedding. In either a planetarium, or make one of my own.

Depeche Mode: Enjoy the silence Nine Inch Nails: We're in this together I'm sure there's more, but that's a start. Enjoy the silence is probably better to dance to, but it may be a little to dancy.

Are you getting married?

i like the idea of "we're in this together now." you could always go with "a warm place" or "with teeth" as well. depeche mode has tons of sweet songs that would work, but they're pretty much all slower. i think "home" would work the best. not many kmfdm songs would work.. maybe "the real thing"? stone temple pilots "still remains" has some pretty sweet lyrics as well.
what are you looking for? does it have to be a heavy song? can it be slow? any artists definitely in or definitely out?

That's more like it!
And yes, Stampede, I am someday getting married. I know there is a question going to be asked between now and May-ish. I am denied all other details (aka, my "to be" has a plan).
We will discuss possible NIN songs. "We're in this together now" is a really good idea. But its gotta be a song we BOTH enjoy,so I'll discuss it with him. If I picked a Depeche Mode song, I don't think he would object, but one of my best friends will slaughter me. COLD. She's a goth-type-person...

last i checked it's YOUR day, not hers.. so fuck her if she won't like whatever you pick. besides, how does being a "goth-type person" mean she hates depeche mode?

Yeah, I thought it was one of those "safe-list"-ed bands? Unless she's one of those more modern "goths" who think ICP is goth.

There's always The Cure. I'm thinking along the lines of Catch, Just like heaven, Love song, Friday I'm in love. They may be too obvious though. Placebo is another. Without you I'm nothing (although they've said that's a terrible song to get married to), Soulmates never die, I do.

i thought about placebo, but most of their stuff is too sad or too co-dependent

True. It's not really an occasion to be sad.

I told Stephen about the NIN idea. He really likes it.. OH, and BTW: As of Thursday night, we are engaged. Officially. Drink to that, if you will.

Thanks all! I've had a busy weekend with relatives! Talk about a great deal of chaos! But I suppose love is the greatest reward for annoying relatives asking stupid and insignificant questions.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! *squees and tosses confetti in air* Hmmm... I've been partial to REM's "Beat a Drum" (either version) for a few months now, but I'm just weird that way. I know when my parents got married, her family convinced the DJ at the reception to play "The Impossible Dream" for their first dance... lesson: DON'T let your family (or his) bribe the DJ. You left out details about the ring... pics! I demand pics! Or at least a good written description. I'm a jewelry junkie, and I demand my fix from you NP

Pics posted at mein myspace: www.myspace.com/kitsune_maboroshiI also lack the time today to upload the photos on my server, so that'll have to do for now. I can't get an accurate pic of what it looks like, but its a marquise diamond on white gold with five white diamond accents on either side. It came as a set with the wedding band, which clips together, which add another 3 diamonds on either side of the big marquise. So... yea. Big bucks. I nearly fainted when I saw it. Since I also told the story of how he proposed a billion and one times, you can read it on my myspace as well (so long as you are a friend). If you aren't, you should be. So there.
