Seeing as RaymondWatts.com gets a lot of traffic its proof that there is intelligent life out there. By looking at the types of music that we like on this board it would have been hard for us not to discover his music. With very minimal promotion and word of mouth he's still become an icon. His body of work is immense. I can't stand most "music" which consists of the same old beat, the same old vox, and the same old rifts. I like music that sticks out and screams for your attention. Raymond's music is what I've seeked and gladly found.

His music is original, he has a nice variety of sounds(compare Toxico! to Salambo to Blades), I've liked how he sings since I was 9 years old, the lyrics are creative and his music is just fun to listen to.

I got hooked on Raymond's stuff when I first heard Juke-Joint Jezebel on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. His vocals and lyrics were so dark and inventive, stuff that I've always been a fan of. I absolutely LOVE Wrecked, as that is (in my opinion) Ray's definitive album. However, even though I will always be a fan of his, Raymond is starting to slack off... Perhaps the age/alcohol/drugs (not sure if he is/was a user, although I don't doubt it) are becoming a factor, as his lyrics aren't what they used to be and his vocals don't carry that smoothness that can be found on Nihil (Disobedience and JJJ are both good examples). Watching the Sturm and Drang Tour and WWIII DVDs, he just isn't good ol' Ray anymore. He seems more focused on fashion as opposed to the underground, hard-edged, rocking Raymond he used to be. Not to mention, his stage show isn't anywhere near as entertaining as '95 Raymond. Does anyone else agree?

KMFDM Nihil opened up the door for me to Pig.
there is a better longer story though...
Around town and family etc.. friends all that good stuff call me Pig or Piggy due to the fact im an onlince gamer and its been my handle since Day 1. I also saw the logo <PIG> one day and decided without knowing it was a band to ge that as a tattoo on my arm due to my nickname.
as time went on I ventured into listening to his music and realized I was missin out and since I been a fan.
it stands out, has that voice that kind of put most listeners under a spell and the lyrics keep me interested.

Because Raymond makes awesome, original music with awesome vocals. It's no surprise to me that the very best KMFDM stuff had something to do with him.
Did I mention he's awesome?

I heard Ray through KMFDM... and typically I turn my nose up at men who are basically "whores" but there's something about that voice... And the more I hear it.... ... Excuse me. I must... go... do things.....
*edit* Oh yes, and his musical line and mixings are far beyond genious.

and when his girlfriend (who also happens to be my best friend of 15 years) isn't around we gush about his looks, which is always fun.

Nick548, that's pretty cool that you've liked Pig since you were 9 years old. Most 9-year-olds are still singing the "Greasy Grimey Gopher Guts" song. How did you get exposed to Pig? Do you have a family member that listens to the music? I like Raymond Watts because not only am I a hardcore industrial fan, but he has good lyrics, a cool voice, and skillfully combines orchestra, electronic, and rock/metal to create a perfect medley. My favorite work of Raymond Watts is Sin Sex Salvation, but my favorite Pig album is Sinsation.

Do you have a family member that listens to the music? I was a really big Mortal Kombat fan at that age and during the summer of 1996, I got a copy of the soundtrack to the movie and my favorite track off of it was Juke Joint Jezebel, so I declared KMFDM to be my favorite band. My parents then got me Nihil for Christmas that year(yeah, it's KMFDM, but Ray was the reason that I really liked KMFDM). I've been a KMFDM fan for a while, but it was Pigmartyr that actually got me interested in Pig. I heard the album sampler and I found out that you could get the CD autographed so I got it and loved it. From then, I went and got a few Pig CDs

I had no choice in becoming a Raymond Watts fan. I already knew I liked and respected his music, but the first time I took notice of him was when KMFDM had all those promo pics up on their site for the upcoming release of the "WWIII" album. I thought, "he's kind of pretty, but probably very annoying." Then, I went to see KMFDM on the "WWIII" tour, and I thought, "yeah, he's definitely annoying." I'm not trying to bash Mr. Watts or anything. I'm just not the type to be very receptive to being flipped off and all that other petulant, punk stuff he pulls on stage. He's entitled to act however he wants. It's just not my thing. Anyway, several months later he starts featuring prominently in several of my more vivid dreams; yes, unconscious, nighttime, sleep dreams. I realized after the second one; I was feeling kind of warm and fuzzy toward him. I was really kind of angry at myself for that, but denial is totally useless. It's just been kind of a compulsion since then.

for me its basically through KMFDM, wouldn't be here if i didn't download* anarchy upon a recomendation (and then many others later on). while if i had to rank kmfdm and pig/watts, kmfdm would be sitting on top, however id say the gap is narrowing.
*Id buy the stuff if they sold it down here,
