The latest KMFDM Field Communication had some interesting news... "KMFDM DOTKOM Field Communication no. 0104 August 23 2006 KMFDM CLASSICS RE-RELEASED KMFDM is proud to announce the impending release of their classic back catalog on Metropolis Records/KMFDM Records. Long out of print, these masterpieces from the band’s Wax Trax! Records days will be unleashed on the world in the order in which they were originally put out.KMFDM's first three albums, What Do You Know, Deutschland? (1986), Don’t Blow Your Top (1988) and UAIOE (1989) will be available everywhere, including the KMFDM Store, starting Tuesday, September 12th. Each CD has been digitally remastered, presenting these albums in a quality and clarity that has never been heard before. To document the exciting history of KMFDM, each CD will include a booklet featuring the original album art (by famed KMFDM cohort Brute!), extensive liner notes, lyrics for each song and never before seen photos of the band. All work on the releases, from the remastering to the packaging, has been done with the highest level of participation from Sascha K., KMFDM's leader and founder. KMFDM CLASSIC MERCHANDISE KMFDM would also like to announce that corresponding KMFDM Classic merchandise will be available exclusively through the KMFDM Store. Currently there are shirts, stickers, posters and postcards all featuring the Brute art from the band's first three releases. Items featuring this art from the band's early days have been out of print for years. Be sure to check out the various money saving bundles the KMFDM Store has for these items as well. www.kmfdmstore.com " It's interesting to say the least (I'm sure I might end up buying several remasters), for those that don't have copies, and I guess Nihil will finally be released again, but what does this mean for the value of our collectables?

I just can't wait to get copies of the originals!
But your old copies will still remain collector's items, to some degree. They won't have the same record labels printed on them and such

Next batch is up for preorder at www.kmfdmstore.comNaive, Money, and Angst Naive has the 5 remixes from Naive/Hell to Go, but the O Fortuna part in Liebesleid is edited out. I'm pre-ordering Naive, just because I love Go to Hell, and I want the shirt with "I WANNA GO TO HELL!" on the back....fits living in Texas nicely. Just thought I'd share...

I'll buy many Symbols shirts. They've gone for almost $50 new on ebay the last few years. I bought a new one for $20 something this year on ebay.

Angst showed up Saturday, just finished listening to and again listening to it now, and have to say, it sounds damn better.
Seemed to have fixed the problem of how low the album was mixed the first time.
Makes me feel like I'm listening to it for the first time again-love the remastering.
Now hoping Naive shows up on Monday maybe.

Oh hell yes!
Naïve showed up today (Monday)...damn this one sounds better than the original...the re-eq'ing really shows a difference, as does the remastering.
Highlight of the CD for me:
Go To Hell (Fuck MTV Mix)-so fucking bad ass.
Just to let people know:
Liebeslied [Edit] completely removes all of the O Fortuna samples, just goes straight into the chorus.
However, the Leibesleid [Infringement Mix] doesn't have the sample, but does have the melody of the sample, played very slightly on synthesizer with the crowd-esque sample that answers to it intact.
Now it's not the same as the original sample, but short of having the original version (which in the liner notes is even mentioned that they tried, but the people holding the copyright wouldn't allow for any samples to be cleared) it's as close to the original mix as you can get, short of finding an original copy of Naïve.
Definitely worth hearing though, I'm really impressed with the remasters of Angst and Naïve.

Mentioned this on the KGC thread, but had the chance to talk to Sascha and Lucia on Seattle radio (called in) and Sascha said the next batch of Classics would be out in February. No definite date, just February.

After the re-release of Naive the resale value of them has gone down on ebay. I believe it'll go back up someday as many still want the original. How do the remasters sound in comparison to the originals so far?

It seems that it's just me that can't be arsed to buy copies of the same stuff ? This is not normally how I'd react (bearing in mind I have multiple PIG items) but where will it end ? Re-issued- mastered-bated with a differing word on page 4. I like Sascha & believe he wants the world to hear KMFDM (which I do)...but maybe I'm just pissed off that my collection value is diminishing somewhat ? Rant over now, sorry guys & gals .....

It's not just you. I was lucky enough to pick up copies of all those albums way back when, and I've only picked up Naive out of the remasters. Not too sure I want any more of them, except maybe Nihil.

The EQ'ing is fixed...it's mixed higher, clearer. You don't have to instantly reach for the volume when you turn it on now...just only if you wanna crank it.
I agree though-it is making the value go down a little, which I was afraid of, but for example if you still have an original copy of Naive you still have a collectable worth some substantial cash.
Now, let's see if things go back up after the rest of the catalogue is released.
